I have not seen an all star line-up like this since the annual
NBA event held last year here in the greatest city of them all. The 2nd
WSOP $50,000 buy-in H.O.R.S.E. Tournament held at the Rio this past week
included a virtual Who’s Who in the world of pro poker. There were not
many “who’s he?” in this starting line-up!

Rep. Shelley Berkley Takes Part in Kick-Off event Saturday June
30 |

Congresswoman Shelley Berkley (D-NV) will
join with local supporters of the effort to
create a national women's suffrage day, at a
kick-off event this Saturday, 11:30
a.m., at
the Mesquite Club, 702 East St. Louis (between Paradise and Maryland Pkwy), in Las Vegas.
The event will feature local members of the League of Women Voters and other supporters of a national women's suffrage day, as well as Former Nevada First Lady Sandy Miller and a special skit presentation.
"Those who took part in the suffragist movement are role models who continue to inspire generations of young Americans through their words and deeds," said Berkley. "Were it not for these pioneers, I would have never had the opportunity to serve as a Congresswoman. As Americans, we must never forget the struggle they waged in order to guarantee women the right to vote."
Rep. Berkley has introduced legislation in the 110th Congress to honor America's suffragists and their work to win recognition for the right of women to vote in the United States. The Berkley legislation passed the House on May 9, 2007 and is awaiting approval in the Senate. Berkley's resolution recognizes the anniversary of the inaugural women's rights convention which took place at Seneca Falls, New York on July 19, 1848. |

Fremont
Street Open To Two-Way Traffic This Weekend |
|
|
Starting at approximately noon on Friday and
continuing through Monday, July 1, Fremont
Street between Las Vegas Boulevard and
Eighth Street will be open in both
directions.
Then, at approximately 4 a.m. on Monday,
July 1, the westbound lane of Fremont Street
will close for continuing work on the
Fremont East District Streetscape
Improvement Project. Traffic will be limited
to one lane for eastbound travel between Las
Vegas Boulevard and Eighth Street.
The $5.5 million Fremont East District
Streetscape Improvement Project includes
construction of a new Fremont Street
featuring three blocks of streetscape
between Las Vegas Boulevard and Eighth
Street. Neon lighted gateways, neon elements
placed in new median islands, decorative
signage, expanded sidewalks, landscaping,
lighting, banners and bronze medallions
embedded in the sidewalks make up this
project by the city of Las Vegas Department
of Public Works. The project is slated for
completion in August. Las Vegas Paving is
