Festivus is a secular holiday celebrated on December 23rd. It was created by writer Dan O'Keefe and introduced into popular culture by his son Daniel, a scriptwriter for the TV show Seinfeld as part of a comical storyline on the show. Although the original Festivus took place in February, 1965, as a celebration of the elder O'Keefe's first date with his future wife, Deborah, it is now celebrated on December 23, as depicted on the December 18, 1997 Seinfeld episode "The Strike." Artist of the Month           Don Rickles - Picture



Don Rickles was born in the New York City borough of Queens to Jewish parents Max and Etta Rickles. He grew up in the borough’s Jackson Heights neighborhood. After graduating from Newtown High School, he served in the U.S. Navy in World War II aboard the USS Cyrene as a S1/c until he was honorably discharged in 1946. Two years later he studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, and played occasional bit parts on television...
