Yesterday
Mayor Oscar Goodman declared July 31 as
“Make a Difference Las Vegas Day.”
Mayor Goodman was joined by the Make a
Difference Las Vegas group and other
local nonprofit organizations. The
mission of the group is to encourage
residents to get involved in improving
their lives and others and strengthen
the community through amplified
generosity and volunteerism. Make a
Difference Las Vegas is a new, nonprofit
organization established to lead a
year-round community effort to carry out
the needs of a number of Las Vegas
charities. |

Nellis Pilot Killed In F-15D
Crash Identified |
|
NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. - The pilot who died in an aircraft
accident July 30 was identified as Lt. Col. Thomas Bouley in a
press conference with Col. Russell Handy, 57th Wing commander.
Colonel Bouley was the 65th Aggressor Squadron commander.
Colonel Bouley died when the U.S. Air Force F-15D Eagle, a two
seater he was piloting, crashed on the Nevada Test and Training
Range during a Red Flag training exercise July 30, 2008.
"Colonel Bouley had recently celebrated his 20th year wearing
the uniform, and had more than 4,200 flight hours in the F-15
Eagle, the Royal Air Force F-3 Tornado, and the T-38 Talon,"
said Colonel Handy during the press conference. "He was a
decorated warrior, an inspiring leader of Airmen, and a loving
father and husband.

Shiloh Horse Rescue and Sanctuary

Shiloh is dedicated to rescuing and
rehabilitating abused, neglected, injured,
unwanted, and slaughter bound horses of all
types. Shiloh is dedicated to rehabilitating these
horses and giving them a second chance at life
by adopting them out to new and loving homes or
to providing them with a loving environment in
which to live out their lives.
Shiloh was started in 2003 by Jill Curtis, who lives with her husband, Tony in Las Vegas. Jill is the proud owner of rescued horses,
Cabrillo, Fallon, and Cortez. Jill also
owns Tanis and Zuiderzee, two Friesians and
Serenity, Hollywood, and Austral- all her old
competition horses who are now retired at
Shiloh. |

The 26th annual tournament will host and honor military
personnel and their families with free
admission, special accommodations and activities
As
part of the PGA TOUR's ongoing commitment to
honor the brave men and women of our military
and their families, the 2008 Justin Timberlake
Shriners Hospitals for Children Open is proud to
offer free admission to active, retired and
reserve military personnel from all five
branches - including Reservists and members of
the National Guard - and their families at the
26th annual
Las
Vegas tournament. Military personnel will be
exempt from paying the traditional $40 fee for
the volunteer package, which covers the cost of
the volunteer’s official tournament hat, golf
shirt and jacket. Each volunteer will also
receive complimentary meals during each shift
they work, a week-long tournament badge and a
ticket to the volunteer kickoff party. Combined
with the volunteer uniform, this package has a
