FIRST THE GOOD,
This year's WSOP, which began this past Friday at the Rio convention area, certainly has a new look to it; what with a more spectator, friendly large new "stadium-look" stage with HDTVs and stadium seats that surround the final table, which will be used for several events, including of course the $10,000 main event. The finals will begin July 7th with an expected number of entrants similar to last year (over 8,000) and will run through the 17th; in between will be 54 other opportunities to win a coveted gold bracelet, that this year are being made by luxury watch maker Corum.

update here).

Grammy-Nominated Performer
Jewel Joins Lifetime, 12 Million Viewers and Bipartisan Political Leaders on
Capitol Hill to Urge End of "Drive-Through" Mastectomies.
In
September, as part of the network's award-winning Stop Breast Cancer for Life
campaign, Lifetime Television and Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Jewel
delivered more than 12 million petition signatures to Capitol Hill, urging
Congress to pass the bipartisan Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act of 2005 (S
910/HR1849). The bill would allow a woman and her doctor to decide whether she
should recuperate for at least 48 hours in the hospital or whether she has
enough support to get quality care at home following this emotionally and
physically difficult surgery. The bill was reintroduced in 2007 with the support
of 14 million signatures from Lifetime's online petition.
