La Salsa Cantina

It is the 30th anniversary for La Salsa and La Salsa Cantina including La Salsa Cantina located in the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood and La Salsa in the Showcase Mall.  Along with great, fresh Mexican food, La Salsa offers a fully stocked-bar and catering as well as place for private events such as weddings, receptions, mixers, banquets and parties.

The décor is inspired by the vibrant colors and rich textures of Mexican art and architecture, the décor is a combination of colorful ceramic tile, authentic artwork, and accent lighting with brightly colored tables and chairs.  The exterior design features a 25-foot-tall illuminated Margarita flask complete with salted rim and a four-foot lime wedge.

In the Miracle Mile Shops location, there is “outdoor” seating where you can people watch in the comfort of a climate controlled mall.  There is room in the back for private events and since La Salsa is located next to the V Theater and close to the Steve Wyrick Theater and Planet Hollywood, it is a perfect place to dine before or after a show.

In the Showcase Mall location, there is a private dining room great for networking meetings set up in such a way that all participants can see and hear the speaker.  This room can also be set up for special occasions such as weddings and receptions, parties and banquets.

As for food, well the Cantina Sampler is one of my personal favorites with quesadillas, chicken taquitos, nachos and hot wings.  The salsa and chips are always made fresh.  Sous Chef Sammy Ramirez has been at La Salsa for over eight years and as he said, “I love it here. I really enjoy the people, preparing the food and making sure that everything is perfect.”

I enjoyed the chipotle shrimp salad made with grilled shrimp, romaine lettuce, avocado, beans, corn, salsa, cheese, tortilla strips and spicy chipotle dressing. For an entrée, I had the Three Pepper Fajita Platter.  On the photo, you can see the steam still rising! You have a choice of grilled chicken or sirloin steak, along with fire- roasted fresh fajita veggies, fresh guacamole and sour cream and served with warm corn or flour tortillas, beans, rice, chips and fresh salsa.

This is what I enjoyed along with a fabulous dessert. But the food is more than that.  La Salsa offers some of the best Mexican food you will enjoy, freshly prepared made without lard, preservatives, or artificial additives.   The food blends the bold tastes and flavors of Mexico in a variety of unique dishes. Like the United Stations, Mexican cuisine comes from many regions, with dishes inspired by the fresh seafood of Baja, tender steak from the plains of Pueblo, and marinated chicken breast grilled over an open flame from Central Mexico.

Everything is made fresh to order with highest quality proteins, marinated sirloin steak, boneless skinless chicken breast, seasoned fish, and shrimp. The assortment of fresh ingredients, spices and sauces bring out layers of flavors in a variety of classic and contemporary menu items. The service was impeccable with some of the friendliest staff including Director of Catering and Banquets Irene Rodriquez.  Everyone is having fun and it is a party.

La Salsa Cantina has been voted "Best Margarita in Vegas” and offers a full bar featuring 40 premium tequilas, specialty rum drinks, wine and a full compliment of Mexican beers. In homage to its signature "Margarita by the Yard", an actual yard-long flask is filled with the award-winning drink.

In 1979, La Salsa first opened as a chain of Mexican “taquerias,” neighborhood restaurants featuring their specialty of soft tacos, which is so much a part of the Mexican culture. Today, La Salsa, both corporate and franchises, are located across the country. But when you come to La Salsa, you are not eating in a franchise but are experiencing a fun, unique place to eat, drink and enjoy.

The hours are Sunday - Thursday, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Friday - Saturday, 8 a.m. to midnight
