Earlier this year, TREVI Italian Restaurant at The Forum
Shops at Caesars celebrated its
first anniversary. It is a truly a combination of Old World charm,
incredible architecture, quality dining and delightful cocktails.
Overlooking the Fountain of the Gods, TREVI is named
after the famous Trevi fountain in Rome. Speaking of the décor, TREVI
features café dining with elaborated
street lamps surrounding the fountain and a walk-up gelato/espresso bar.
There is a 28-seat, oval bar designed with granite and decorated with blown
glass bar lamps. Stairs on both north and south sides of the restaurant led
to the Mezzanine Level with seating that looks out through arched windows
into the plaza of the Fountain of the Gods. Above is the 12-foot-tall
custom glass chandelier hanging from the center of the rotunda through the
opening in the floors and in
the
rear is the open kitchen. The mural with Sophia Loren is breathtaking and
just adds to the dining experience.
But the restaurant’s reputation is also created with their
unbelievable cuisine. TREVI’s menu features some of the long-time favorites
from Bertolini’s as well many new items. Executive Chef Peter Scaturro, who
led the team of chefs at Bertolini’s since 1999, and was the recipient of
the 2000 Chef of the Year designation from Morton’s Restaurant Group, Inc.
is dedicated
to using the freshest ingredients with the right blend of spices. His
philosophy is, “quality, consistency with some nice surprises.”
Starters include Polenta Fries and Calamari Fritti with
homemade soups and salads such as Tuscan Tuna Salad and Mediterranean Salad.
Brick
oven fired pizzas including Classic Pepperoni, Chicken Marinated, Margherita,
Italian Sausage and Classic Cheese are a staple along with entrees such as
Chicken Scaloppini,
Veal Parmigiana, Linguini Al Frutti Di Mare and Fettuccini
Alfredo.
The desserts here should be the main course. There is the
homemade sorbetto, tiramisu, coppa spumoni, crème brulee and banana
veneziana. “Master Gelato Maker” Hank Sbraccia is at TREVI by 2 a.m. daily
and is dedicated to making award-winning gelato that’s creative and tasty
and whips up daily specials, as well as guest favorites, such as vanilla,
chocolate and strawberry. One of their signature desserts is the Spaghetti
Ice which really isn’t really a heaping portion of spaghetti and meatballs.
It is actually made of strands of vanilla gelato double for spaghetti;
strawberry sauce resembles tomato sauce; chocolate gelato is made into the
“meatballs”; and white, shaved chocolate is sprinkled on top for parmesan
cheese.
“TREVI’s Spaghetti Ice is a unique item on our menu,” said
Nick Catanella, General Manager and Managing Partner of TREVI Italian
Restaurant at The Forum Shops at Caesars. “When guests order the Spaghetti
Ice, they can’t believe that it’s really made of gelato. I don’t know of
another restaurant that serves this type of dessert.” Catanella, a veteran
in the restaurant and hospitality industry, served for six years as General
Manager and Managing Partner for Bertolini’s. He was named 2000 General
Manager of the Year from the Morton’s Restaurant Group for the Bertolini’s
concept.
Then there are the specialty cocktails including Italian
sodas. Assistant General Manger Anthony Cassiello is in the process of
creating new spring and summer drinks and said, “We are working on nice,
fresh cocktails.” He continued, “We are going to come with some great
[bourbon] cocktails and I am also a big fan of some of the bourbon drinks
that are out there right now.”
“TREVI offers a wine menu, beer, cocktails, non-alcoholic
beverages and some very creative Specialty Cocktails,” Catanella concurred.
“The cocktails include only the freshest ingredients and top-shelf liquors.”
The
Specialty Cocktails include:
• Pomegranate Cosmo – made with Absolut Mandarin, fresh pomegranate
juice, Triple Sec and freshly squeezed lime, this creation is served chilled
and straight up.
• Macchiato Martini – mixed with Absolut Vanilla, Bailey’s Irish
Cream, Kahlua and espresso, this libation is served in a toasted
biscotti-rimmed martini glass.
• Frozen Lemon Sorbetini – created with Absolut Citron Vodka, a
splash of Italian sparkling wine and blended with homemade lemon sorbetti.
• Nona’s Cinnamon Cookie – blended with Bailey’s Irish Cream,
Goldschlager, cream and a touch of vanilla, this tasty treat is served on
the rocks with a cinnamon sugar rim.
• Italian Margarita – concocted with Sauza Gold Tequila, Grand
Marnier, Amaretto and fresh lime juice.
• Mojito – mixed with Cruzan Light Rum, fresh mint leaves and fresh
lime juice, this temptation is served tall on the rocks. The Mojito is also
available with mango and pineapple flavors.
With May being the month for honoring mothers, TREVI Italian
Restaurant, Bertolini’s Authentic Trattoria and Morton’s The Steakhouse
employees and management have formed a partnership to help The Shade Tree, a
shelter for homeless and abused women and children, in Las Vegas. The three
restaurants have named their mission “MAGIC”: M, making a memory; A, always
being aware; G, giving back to the community; I, because I care, and C for
collaborating together to make an impact.
“TREVI, Bertolini’s and Morton’s employees are committed to
helping out in the community, and The Shade Tree is a valuable organization
to women and children,” said Catanella. “The employees are collecting
supplies for The Shade Tree. This is a great way to help the women and
children in our community and to encourage team spirit among our employees
at the same time.”
“We are very grateful to the TREVI, Bertolini’s and Morton’s
employees and management for donating their time, money and resources for
the benefit of the women and children at The Shade Tree,” said executive
director Marlene Richter. “Their enthusiasm is wonderful. We welcome
individuals and companies who come forward and contribute what they can.”
TREVI, Bertolini’s and Morton’s employees have placed
donation boxes at the restaurants for a variety of necessities for The Shade
Tree, including baby items and cleaning and office supplies. The donation
boxes will be available throughout May.
The
hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 12 a.m.
Friday and Saturday.
