A leap
year (or intercalary year) is a year containing one or
more extra days (or, in case of lunisolar calendars, an
extra month) in order to keep the calendar year
synchronized with the astronomical or seasonal year. For
example, February would have 29 days in a leap year
instead of the usual 28. Seasons and astronomical events
do not repeat at an exact number of full days, so a
calendar which had the same number of days in each year
would over time drift with respect to the event it was
supposed to track. By occasionally inserting (or
intercalating) an additional day or month into the year,
the drift can be corrected. A year which is not a leap
year is called a common year.
In the
old Julian Calendar, there was only one rule: Every year
divisible by 4 is a leap year. This calendar was used
before the Gregorian calendar was adopted.

Defending the Caveman |
|
|
Defending the Caveman is a
worldwide, rock-solid tour-de-force. This blockbuster has won
the hearts of millions in more than 30 countries and has been
translated into 15 languages. This is a hilariously insightful
show about the ongoing misunderstandings between men and women
that have both sexes roaring with laughter and recognition. With
hysterical looks into contemporary feminism, masculine
sensitivity and the erogenous zone, Defending the Caveman mines
the common themes in relationships that go straight to the funny
bone. |

As

Congrats go out to Norm Johnson |
|
In Norm Johnson’s column this past week
he states,
"I dabble in sculptures now and then… and has
been asked to be a "Featured Artist" in
the 11th Annual ArtFest of Henderson on
Saturday and Sunday, May 10-11. The ArtFest is
one of the most sought after venues in the west,
and to be asked to participate with my
sculptures is quite an honor”.
Well this “dabbling” artist is INCREDIBLE, and
is well deserving of this honor. If you haven’t
have the pleasure of seeing Norm’s wonderful
sculptures you’ve really missed something. Below
are a couple of my favorites, you can see all of
Norm’s work at
www.sculpturesbynorm.com
Norm adds “I will probably have about nine pieces on display (and
for sale).” The 11th Annual ArtFest of
Henderson will be held at the new Water
Street District from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both
days. More on this next week, and the week after
that and so on... Del Sol High School,
3100 E. Patrick Lane.
Kudos Norm! |
