Amlee Gourmet, a popular Chinese restaurant in Henderson, Nev., is an eatery ideal for family outings, banquets, business meetings, and it is a favorite spot for dignitaries and celebrities, such as Jackie Chan.
Owner and Executive Chef Steven Lee operates the restaurant as a family tradition. He has been preparing Chinese dishes in the Las Vegas area for more than 30 years. His cuisine is definitely gourmet. And it’s all made to order and attractively served from a tableside cart, something you don’t see often.
Chef Lee selects the freshest food and uses the finest ingredients of the highest quality, which is why he keeps patrons coming back to Amlee’s — especially for the lunch specials, which start at only $6.95. Even for a full dinner with beverages and desserts, a family of four can enjoy a culinary journey for about $80.
For those who like traditional American dishes, Amlee serves Filet Mignon. Other popular American dishes, include Orange Peeled Shrimp, Asparagus Shrimp, White Creamed Shrimp, Spicy Scallops and Scallops with Broccoli, to name a few.
My guest and I choose the Steamed Orange Roughy with Spicy Eggplant. I had to wonder about the spices because it was so interestingly flavored. I tasted ginger in the delicious fish dish, and the eggplant was seasoned extremely well. Wow what a delectable entree!
We also ordered an array of vegetables: broccoli with fresh mushrooms, cauliflower, snow peas and water chestnuts. The portions are large and many diners take home the extra. In these rocky economic times, it’s good to get great food in generous portions at reasonable prices. But when it comes to a modest price, I must say that our meal (for three people) was only $75 with desserts and beverages included.
The service at Amlee is far superior to other eateries that charge higher prices.
Amlee Gourmet, located at 3827 W. Sunset Road at Sandhill (SE corner), is open from 11:00 to 3:00 for lunch Monday through Friday and 2:00 to 4:00 on Saturday. Dinner is served from 4:00 until 10:00 Monday through Sunday. For more information or reservations, call (702) 898-3358.
CSN rates a 10 for Amlee.
