Thanks to
the creator of ARTV Awards
Audrey Roberts, VCO was lucky enough to attend
the 1st ARTV Awards
last year
(see review
HERE). This year my husband Frank
accompanied me, and both being major art lovers, it made
for a very memorable evening,
but...even if you weren't art lovers, the
evening was a total SENSATION!
VCO sat in a VIP booth and joining
Frank and myself were fellow VCO columnists
Carol Kahn, Michaelina Bellamy, Victoria
Alexander, "Kid" Cary Degrosa,
and Ed Garza from
the For Profit Network.
The late change of venue from
the Palms to Club Sapphire (an establishment not
usually noted for such festivities), as
far as this columnists' view, was a HUGE PLUS. The
gigantic VIP room was packed and alive with energy!
Everyone in
attendance were Rockin' and Rollin' all night
long...The entertainment for the evening began
with the hilarious
Michele Balan (Last Comic Standing contestant), who kept us all in
stitches during the evening and was a total scream,
in addition to Balan the music and other entertainment that was
presented
throughout
the evening was fantastic as well.
This year PBS National will be airing the ARTV
Awards show in 10 one-hour segments featuring
all the artists honored in the ARTV family.
How exactly do the ARTV
Awards work? Are they similar to the Oscars or
Emmys?
Following the closing date for artists'
submissions, a panel of renowned industry
individuals evaluate the respective merits of
each and every submission over a variety of
criteria. The evaluations are recorded and
tabulated to assess which five artists' works
are to be nominated as finalists in each of 12
categories. Closer to the event, the AWARDS
COMMITTEE will present the Nominees, first on
film to the panel of judges. Secondly, this same
panel will select the winner for each category
prior to the CEREMONY, with the results sealed
until announcement at the actual ARTV AWARDS. ™
Winners in each category were presented with the
"Muse" Award, a beautiful crystal
sculpture that was designed and handmade by artist Michael
Ray.
