Casey Smith

Ask Casey Smith what he thinks of Las Vegas and his automatic response is "I love this town!"  Casey has lived in the valley since 2000 and says he can't imagine living anywhere else.

Casey anchors Action News "First at 4" every weekday afternoon reports for the 5, 6 & 11 PM newscasts as well.  It keeps him busy, but the self-professed "news junkie" would have it any other way.

Casey started his news career in Hastings, Nebraska and moved up the ranks from weekend anchor/reporter to main anchor. His next position was at his hometown station in Casper, Wyoming where he served as the main anchor and garnered awards for his anchoring, reporting and community involvement.  He also hosted a statewide political talk show.  Political reporting is one of Casey's passions and he'll always be in the thick of it at Channel 13.

The West Coast beckoned and Casey's next stop was Monterey, California and something new.  Casey was morning anchor, as well as political and agricultural reporter on California's beautiful Central Coast.  He always knew it would take a special place to lure him away from the ocean and when Las Vegas called, he didn't hesitate.

Casey anchored mornings in the Las Vegas Valley for six years before joining Channel 13.

During his tenure here, Casey has developed lasting relationships in the community. His favorite charitable causes include The Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation and the "Save The Music" program. Casey's experience in the drum & bugle corps activity fostered a love for music education and he has helped raise money for Clark County school music programs since 2001.  He even instructed the UNLV Marching Band for a few years.

"This is my home, and this is where I'm staying", says Casey.  "I love this community and it's been very good to me."  So good in fact, he planted roots immediately, and this is where he met and married the love of his life Charlene.  Casey and Charlene live in Las Vegas with Frosty and Snowman, their two adorable dogs.  When he's not reporting the news, you can find Casey walking his dogs in the park, working in his yard, playing an occasional round of golf enjoying everything the Las Vegas Valley has to offer.
