We must bring the GI Bill back... and do it now

I just received a recorded phone call saying that Congress went home on vacation without voting for the VA Bill... and the Veterans will not be getting their checks... urging everyone to contact their Congressperson at home....

Will Bush veto this VA Bill? Along with our Congresswoman's Medical & Education benefits for Veterans... lets go one step further and offer the GI Bill for Veterans with no money down payments and low interest rates to buy a home.... and at the same time, get rid of the housing foreclosure problems.

McCain has a short memory.  Kids were getting out of high school and going into the Military. My husband Leo graduated with a degree in Pharmacy after serving 4 years in the Air Forces.  My brother graduated in Engineering after serving in the Marines, a disabled Veteran.  Both our families brought homes under the GI Bill.

McCain's idea that if education was given to Veterans there would be fewer joining the Military is absolutely stupid.  Our young people would line up to join the Military (as they did in WWII) to be assured of a college education they could never afford... and be able to buy a home with no money down with payments they could afford.

The news is about things the government can take care of in a hurry by passing the GI Bill in full.  I will just bet that most of the people in government, McCain's age, got their law degrees and first homes on the GI Bill

Now we have many young Veterans on the streets; no money to attend school and no money to buy a house.

NO money was lost through this program... and Veterans had homes as well as an education through the GI Bill.

We must bring the GI Bill back with medical, educational & housing benefits... and do it now
