The Planning and Zoning Department will hold Downtown Master Plan/Investment Strategy community workshops on Monday, June 9, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Aliante Library, 2400 Deer Springs Way, and on Tuesday, June 10, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Downtown North Las Vegas Library, 2300 Civic Center Drive. At these workshops the public can learn about and provide feedback on what has been accomplished to date on the downtown master plan.
Starting in late 2007, North Las Vegas embarked on a community-driven planning process to reinvigorate the downtown and develop an investment strategy. This process has included meetings with local business owners, City officials, major investors, and the community at large in order to design a new overarching vision for the future of downtown North Las Vegas. This area is bordered by Cheyenne Avenue to the north, Pecos Road on the east, Owens Avenue on the south, and I-15 on the west.
New factors considered in the master plan include a downtown vision, branding strategy, aesthetics and appearance, downtown connectivity, and neighborhood enhancements. Currently, there is nearly $1 billion invested in several upcoming downtown projects, including the Las Flores Shopping Plaza, the new City Hall, and the Silver Nugget expansion. The implementation of the master plan should improve real estate values, occupancy levels, employment opportunities and consumer activity while enhancing the City’s profile and providing numerous other benefits.
The workshops are open to the public, and participation is encouraged. Spanish translation of the workshops will be available via headphones, and a Spanish translator will be present at the workshops. Light refreshments will be served.
