North Las Vegas is joining thousands of communities across the country in celebrating the 25th Annual National Night Out. The event lasts from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5, at the Cheyenne Sports Complex near Cheyenne Avenue and Pecos Road.

National Night Out is co-sponsored by the North Las Vegas Police Department and the National Association of Town Watch. It is designed to promote neighborhood unity, safety and police-community partnerships by focusing on crime prevention, drug resistance, and violence prevention. National Night Out is celebrated in similar events across the U.S., Canada and military bases around the world, and is expected to draw more than 34 million people this year.
The event will feature an evening of fun, food, entertainment, children's activities, and crime prevention education. In addition to various food vendors, the City will serve free ice cream and hot dogs. Activities include a bounce house, games, and the opportunity to soak a North Las Vegas Police Officer in a dunk tank. For a detailed entertainment schedule, visit www.cityofnorthlasvegas.com.
Expected participating organizations and vendors include the FBI, HELP of Southern Nevada, Target, and McDonald's. Several City departments are assisting in coordinating this year's National Night Out and will host booths at the event.
