Governor Jim Gibbons has proclaimed July as “Nevada Milk Month”. By issuing this proclamation, the Governor underscores the importance of the dairy industry to the state of Nevada and encourages consumers to purchase Nevada dairy products.
Although not as large as other states, Nevada’s dairy industry provides an
important employment base for several rural counties. Dairy manufacturing and
bottling plants throughout the State also contribute significantly to the
employment and economy of Nevada.
The official proclamation urges Nevadans to become aware of the importance of the dairy industry and to seek out and purchase milk and other dairy products that are produced and processed within the state of Nevada. This includes goods from companies that purchase Nevada-produced milk from local dairymen to use in other products.
The Nevada Dairy Commission works closely with the Nevada dairy industry and consumers to ensure that fresh, wholesome milk and other dairy products are available to Nevadans at reasonable prices. For more information regarding dairy products that are sold in Nevada, call the Nevada Dairy Commission at (775) 688-1211, in Carson City, or (702) 486-8212, in Las Vegas.
