Years
ago I made a trip to New Orleans for a wedding and as folklore tells it,
I drank the water and a spell was put on me and I have never been the
same. I constantly yearn for the city and have missed it so much since I
have been away for about two years, now.
When I moved to
New Orleans in l999, it was like the gates of heaven opened up for me
and my life and Club were blessed beyond belief. It was clear to me
that my God wanted me there and it was part of the master plan.
Unlike some cities
where I actually left town in fear for my life in the middle of the
night. I left New Orleans after storm Katrina hit (bitch with an
attitude) and then her cousin Rita devastated my beautiful city and
there was nothing at that time for me in the entertainment biz. Thus, I
made my way to Las Vegas.
Although, I have
enjoyed being back in Vegas, I have felt like a duck out of water (the
mighty Mississippi) and longed to go back to my southern roots.
Have
you guys heard of the philosophy of "The Secret?" If you haven't,
immediately read the book or get the DVD. I highly recommend you do!!
It's amazing! It's all about positive thinking and positive energy and
Karma.
I began meditating
on what I wanted, visualizing it and moving toward it. WALA!! My phone
rings and I had an offer for a singing gig at a beautiful upscale room
in New Orleans and then a call from the new owner of the local Fox TV
affiliate in the Crescent City with a job offer to do a TV show
featuring local New Orleans talent. PERFECT!!
Then I get a call
from a friend offering me a lease on his beautiful home...Thank you God
and I am on my way back to New Orleans with a song in my heart ("Way
Down Yonder in New Orleans") and a smile on my face. I am headed back
into the arms of my friends and the city with blessings!
All things are
possible my friends. My saying and philosophy is: "DREAM IT, CONCEIVE
IT AND ACHIEVE IT."
We all have the
power. Whatever your belief.. God, Universe or another type of higher
spirit, tap into it and GO FOR IT!! The rewards are abundant and
incredible.
Thankfully, with
the power of the internet, I will still be able to write my column here
at the VCO and continue to communicate with you folks in Vegas and all
over the world. I will keep you posted on my move and progress in the
Big Easy.
"Come along with
me, down the Mississippi. We'll take a boat to the land of
dreams...down the Mississippi down to New Orleans."
God Bless you all
and as usual…. many kisses,
